Playa Conchal takes its name from the tiny crushed shells that make up much of its sand, which give the water a clear, turquoise color on calm days. It is one of the most photographed beaches in Guanacaste, with snorkeling around the rocks at the northern end.

We collect you at the lobby of The Westin or the W, or at your residence inside Reserva Conchal. Security at the gate checks the vehicle in and out, and the internal roads are slow; our pickup time allows for both. From the gate the road heads inland to Huacas.
From the beaches the van heads inland past Huacas on Route 155 to Belén, where it joins Route 21, the road that runs north-east across Guanacaste cattle country to Liberia. The airport is on Route 21 before the town, so there is no need to cross Liberia.

Route 21 and the local roads are paved. Near the beach towns some roads are narrow or potholed after heavy rain, and traffic around the beach towns can be slow at midday. On high-season weekends the airport itself is busy, which we add to the margin.
