The service
Your private transfer from Las Catalinas to Liberia Airport
The van, the driver and the timing are yours alone: we do not combine groups, so the pickup is set by your flight and nothing else.
Prices are per vehicle, not per passenger, and nothing is added later: taxes, tolls, fuel, insurance, bottled water, WiFi and child seats come with every booking. Go Standard for the fastest trip or VIP (+$80) to stop along the way.
The drive takes about 1 h 15 min without stops. We add a margin for traffic and weather and work back from your flight, so you reach Liberia airport about 3 hours before an international departure. The table below shows what that means for the usual flight times.
The place you are leaving
About Las Catalinas
Las Catalinas is a planned beach town built on the hillside above Playa Danta, just north of Potrero. It was designed for walking: narrow lanes, stairways and small plazas link houses, shops and restaurants, and cars stay at the edge of town. Around it, a network of trails through dry forest is popular with hikers and mountain bikers.
Accommodation is in the town's hotels and in rental houses managed by local companies. Because the center is pedestrian, tell us who manages your stay: they will tell us where vehicles can stop and usually help you with the luggage from there.

The route
What to expect on the drive
- Driving time
- approx. 1 h 15 min without stops
- Main roads
- Local roads and Route 155 past Huacas to Belén, then Route 21 north-east to Liberia airport
- Pickup
- At your hotel, villa or lodge in Las Catalinas
- Drop-off
- Departures entrance of the terminal
We collect you at the vehicle access point that your hotel or rental company gives you: the lanes in town are pedestrian. Arrange with them how the luggage gets to the car. From the edge of town the road goes down to Potrero and along the coast to Huacas.
From the beaches the van heads inland past Huacas on Route 155 to Belén, where it joins Route 21, the road that runs north-east across Guanacaste cattle country to Liberia. The airport is on Route 21 before the town, so there is no need to cross Liberia.
