The place you are leaving
Your last days in Playas del Coco
Playas del Coco, usually just called Coco, is the liveliest beach town on the Gulf of Papagayo. It began as a fishing village and is now the region's main center for diving and boat trips, with departures to the Catalina Islands and to the Bat Islands, known for big pelagic fish, from the beach and its small pier.
Coco has the shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants that the quieter bays around it lack, plus a seafront park where locals gather at sunset. Places to stay range from guesthouses to resorts such as Pacifico Beach Club, and Liberia airport is only a short drive away.

We collect you at your hotel or condo in Coco. The center is compact and busy near the beach road; if your street is narrow, we tell you the nearest corner where the driver will wait. From Coco the main road heads inland through Sardinal.
From the gulf the road runs inland through dry hills and pastures; there are no mountain passes and no big towns on the way, so the drive is quick and the airport appears almost as soon as you have settled in.

Driver's tips for this route
- Rinse the dive or snorkel gear and let it dry the night before: wet gear weighs more in the luggage.
- Pack the sunscreen and the swimsuits the night before; you will not need them on the plane.
- Check out early: on a short drive, the resort check-out and the gate are often what takes the longest.
