Getting there
SJO or Liberia: which airport for Manuel Antonio?
From SJO (Juan Santamaría, San José): about 3 h and $220 per vehicle. The route takes the Route 27 toll motorway west and then the Costanera Sur (Route 34) along the coast.
From Liberia (LIR, Guanacaste): about 5 h and $375 per vehicle. It is a long drive down the Pacific side of the country; if you fly into Liberia, it often makes sense to visit Manuel Antonio later in the trip.
The difference on the road is 2 h and $155. Many travelers land at one airport and fly home from the other; we cover both legs.
The destination
About Manuel Antonio
Manuel Antonio is the green, hilly stretch of coast just south of Quepos, wrapped around one of the most visited national parks in Costa Rica. The park is small, with white-sand coves and forest trails where monkeys, sloths and iguanas are easy to spot.
Most hotels line the steep road between Quepos and the park entrance, many of them with ocean views from the hillside. Quepos has the Pez Vela marina, supermarkets and restaurants. The park has traditionally closed one day a week, so check the current opening days before you plan your visit.
