Tulemar is a resort of bungalows, villas and larger houses spread over 33 acres of hilly forest. The hotel describes itself as the only licensed hotel operation on the property, and according to Oyster the bungalows and villas are individually owned. Its website lists four pools, a spa, a private-chef service and two restaurants. The beach belongs to the grounds and is reached by a shuttle. The hotel's website mentions monkeys, sloths and macaws on the property. La Nación reported the resort in sixth place in Tripadvisor's 2025 Best of the Best list for Costa Rica.
The terrain matters for arrival. Fodor's calls the setting hilly, with units linked by paved trails and a gated entrance, and Oyster mentions an on-call van for guests who do not want to walk. We bring you to the resort's entrance, and the hotel handles the last metres to the unit. Tell us the number of bags so that we can plan the vehicle, because a family on a bungalow stay may travel with more luggage than the passenger count suggests.
Manuel Antonio is a single fare zone in our table, so the price is the same for every hotel on the road to the park. The resort itself says it can arrange transfers from San José by ground or air; if you would rather keep the whole journey under one booking, a private vehicle gives you a fixed fare and a driver who knows the hill road.
