The lodge is in the middle section of Route 142, a few minutes from town, so arriving and leaving are straightforward. Because the road toward the volcano and the lake is the same one the Liberia route uses, guests flying into LIR reach the lodge before they ever see La Fortuna's centre.

Getting to Volcano Lodge from SJO and Liberia
From SJO airport (San José)
Your SJO transfer runs along Route 1 through the Central Valley, then over the mountains on Route 702 or Route 141, and down to La Fortuna: approx. 3 h of driving in our fare table. From the centre, Volcano Lodge is about 7 km west. Choose VIP if you want La Paz waterfall and the Cinchona lookout on the way; we then take the Vara Blanca road.
From Liberia airport (LIR)
Flying into Liberia, the route heads south to Cañas and turns inland to Tilarán, then follows Lake Arenal's north shore. At the end of the lake it becomes the Route 142 approach to La Fortuna, with Volcano Lodge on the way in. Our fare table gives approx. 2 h 45 min.
