Planet Hollywood Costa Rica was built in 2018, according to the property listings we read, and stands on Playa Manzanillo on Bahía Culebra. The hotel's own website lists 292 suites, and Marriott files it under the Autograph Collection with an all-suites, all-inclusive format. Marriott also lists seven restaurants, among them a steakhouse, a Japanese teppanyaki and sushi venue, an Italian trattoria and a Tex-Mex cantina. The resort is aimed at families as much as couples: there is no minimum age to stay, a kids club for ages 4 to 12, and a premium STAR Class tier with its own lounge and pool areas.
That mix shapes the transfer. Parties are often larger than at a boutique hotel, with grandparents, children and a lot of luggage, so it pays to choose the right vehicle size. Our fares cover up to five passengers, six to nine, and ten to twelve, per vehicle, and child seats can be arranged on request.
Neither the all-inclusive rate nor the hotel page we read says that an airport transfer is part of it. In fact, Marriott's listing states that the hotel does not run a shuttle and points to a paid third-party service. If your package from a tour operator mentions transfers, check what it covers before you book separately.

Getting to Planet Hollywood Costa Rica from SJO and Liberia
From SJO airport (San José)
The drive from San José follows Route 1 north through Cañas to Liberia, and from there a local road leads west to the Gulf of Papagayo. Our fare table gives approx. 4 h 15 min of driving. It is a long day for a family, so ask the driver for a restroom stop whenever the children need one; water is on board. Check-in starts at 15:00 according to Marriott and the booking listings, so plan the pickup around that.
From Liberia airport (LIR)
From Liberia airport the fare table gives approx. 30 min. Sources disagree on the drive: Marriott says the resort is 31.2 km away, the resort's own site says about 30 minutes, and other listings quote 40 or even 48 minutes, so we plan with the table figure and add margin for the last stretch of local road. The fare is $110 for up to five passengers, $165 for six to nine and $250 for ten to twelve, tolls and taxes included.

- A listing on hotels.com says check-in runs from 15:00 until midnight and asks guests arriving after midnight to contact the property in advance. If your flight is late, send the resort your flight number before you leave home.

Our flight lands after dark. Can we still check in?
We follow your flight and the driver adjusts to the real landing time. One booking site lists check-in from 15:00 until midnight and asks guests who will arrive later to contact the property first, so inform the resort of your flight number.
We are travelling with golf bags and several large suitcases. Is that a problem?
It is a question of vehicle size. Tell us the number of passengers and bags when you book, and we will recommend the five-, nine- or twelve-passenger option. Fares for those are $110, $165 and $250 from Liberia.
Can we go on to another destination after the stay?
Yes. From the resort we go to La Fortuna for $285, to Monteverde for $275 or to Nosara for $280, each for up to five passengers and collected at the entrance.
