Location

Distance

Recognition
two Michelin Keys; member of The Leading Hotels of the World

La Fortuna, no surcharge

The camp sits on the slope above its two sister hotels, Nayara Springs and Nayara Gardens. The Michelin Guide awards it two Keys, it belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World and TripAdvisor lists it among the five-star-class hotels of the La Fortuna area. The hotel doesn't publish its own distance from town; since it shares the complex, we work with about 9–10 km.

We are a family transport company based in La Fortuna, licensed by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (I.C.T. #3946-2025). The complex is a short drive from our base in town, and it is in the La Fortuna fare zone, so the camp costs the same as any hotel in town.

From the airports

Getting to Nayara Tented Camp from SJO and Liberia

From SJO airport (San José)

From SJO the trip has three parts: Route 1 west through the Central Valley, the mountain crossing on Route 702 or Route 141, and the descent to La Fortuna, approx. 3 h of driving in our fare table. The camp is then a short drive west of town on Route 142. On arrival days with a late flight, expect to reach the hotel after dark.

From Liberia airport (LIR)

The Liberia route brings you along Lake Arenal and down Route 142 from the west, so the Nayara complex comes before La Fortuna itself. It is approx. 2 h 45 min of driving in our fare table. The lakeside section is narrow and winding; if you get carsick, ask for a front seat.
