The hotel puts itself about 11 km from La Fortuna; Travel Weekly lists the address as 10 km along the road to the volcano. It sits on the stretch of Route 142 at the base of the volcano, in the same area as Tabacón. TripAdvisor includes it in its five-star class and Travel Weekly in its Superior First Class.

Getting to Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa from SJO and Liberia
From SJO airport (San José)
From SJO the transfer crosses the Central Valley on Route 1 and then the mountains on Route 702 or Route 141, down to La Fortuna: approx. 3 h of driving in our fare table. Kioro is about 11 km beyond the centre on Route 142. VIP transfers take the Vara Blanca road for La Paz waterfall and the Cinchona lookout, one to two hours of stops in total.
From Liberia airport (LIR)
Coming from Liberia, the road around Lake Arenal meets Route 142 on the western side of the volcano, and the Tabacón area comes before La Fortuna. So from LIR you reach Kioro without going through town. It is approx. 2 h 45 min of driving in our fare table, with the lakeside curves as the slowest part.
