A La Fortuna visitor guide places Magic Mountain 2 km from the central park on the road to the volcano, which makes it the closest hotel to the centre among those we have pages for. HRS lists it as a three-star hotel. Its website is hotelmagicmountain.com.
Being so close to town has a practical side for transfers: arrival and departure times depend almost entirely on the airport leg. When we set a departure pickup, the minutes between the hotel and La Fortuna hardly count; the mountain roads to SJO or the lake road to Liberia are what we plan around.

From SJO airport (San José)
From SJO you head west on Route 1 and cross the mountains on Route 702 via San Ramón or Route 141 via Zarcero, reaching La Fortuna in approx. 3 h according to our fare table. Magic Mountain is 2 km from the park, a couple of minutes more. On VIP transfers we go over Vara Blanca for La Paz waterfall and Cinchona.
From Liberia airport (LIR)
From Liberia the route runs along the north shore of Lake Arenal and then down Route 142 toward La Fortuna. Magic Mountain is the last stretch before the centre on that side. Our fare table gives approx. 2 h 45 min of driving.
