Jacó is one of the two biggest tourist towns on the Central Pacific and the closest lively beach to San José. Its long gray-sand beach, around 4 km from end to end, has consistent waves and surf schools, and the main street behind it is packed with restaurants, bars, surf shops and tour offices.
Hotels range from the large Croc's Resort & Casino to small surf lodges and the many condominium towers along the beach. It is a good base for surfing lessons, canopy tours, sportfishing from nearby Herradura and day trips to Manuel Antonio or the Carara National Park.

We collect you at your hotel or condominium in Jacó. Most properties are on or near the main street or the beach road; for condos, give us the tower or unit, so the driver goes straight to the right entrance. From town the van joins Route 34 north toward Tárcoles.
The return is the outbound trip in reverse: north on Route 34 to the Tárcoles area, then Route 27, the toll motorway, up through the hills to the Central Valley. Tolls are in your fare, and the airport is close to where the motorway meets Alajuela.

Road conditions on the way to SJO Airport
Both roads are paved and in good condition. What changes the timing is traffic on Route 27 at the end of weekends and holidays and the occasional accident on the motorway, so for a morning flight we prefer an earlier pickup rather than a tight one.

- A short drive tempts you to leave late; on Sunday afternoons, do not. The traffic back to the Central Valley can double the time.
- Avoid a Sunday afternoon pickup for an evening flight if you can: that is when traffic on Route 27 is heaviest.
- Change out of the beach clothes before the drive: the Central Valley is noticeably cooler than the coast, especially in the evening.
