From the airports
Getting to Lost Iguana Resort & Spa from SJO and Liberia
From SJO airport (San José)
From SJO the route is Route 1 and then Route 702 or Route 141 over the mountains to La Fortuna, approx. 3 h of driving in our fare table, and then west along Route 142 past the volcano toward the dam. That last part adds roughly 17–20 km. A VIP transfer from SJO goes over Vara Blanca for La Paz waterfall and the Cinchona lookout.
From Liberia airport (LIR)
From Liberia you come around Lake Arenal on the north shore, through Nuevo Arenal, toward the dam and Route 142. That means the resort comes well before La Fortuna town, so the drive is shorter than the approx. 2 h 45 min our fare table gives to La Fortuna. This is the stretch that was closed by landslides in July 2024 and July 2026.
