SJO or Liberia: which airport for Nosara?
From Liberia (LIR, Guanacaste): about 2 h 15 min and $240 per vehicle. The route follows Route 21 south through Santa Cruz and Nicoya and then the peninsula roads to the Pacific.
From SJO (Juan Santamaría, San José): about 5 h 15 min and $370 per vehicle. It is one of the longer transfers from SJO; the last part runs on the gravel roads of the Nosara area.
The difference on the road is 3 h and $130. Many travelers land at one airport and fly home from the other; we cover both legs.

About Nosara (Playa Guiones)
Nosara is a spread-out area of beaches, forest and small settlements on the Pacific side of the Nicoya Peninsula. Playa Guiones, with its long, consistent waves, has made it one of the country's best-known surf and yoga destinations.
Building has been kept low and green, with houses and hotels hidden in the trees behind the beach. Just to the north is the Ostional refuge, known for the mass nestings of olive ridley turtles. The local roads are mostly gravel, dusty in the dry season and muddy in the rain.

How long is the drive from Liberia airport to Nosara?
About 2 h 15 min without stops. The route follows Route 21 south through Santa Cruz and Nicoya and then the peninsula roads to the Pacific. Rain, traffic and stops add time.
Are the roads to Nosara paved?
The main roads are, but the roads around Nosara are mostly gravel. Our vehicles drive them regularly; they are just slower, so plan a little extra time.
Do you go to houses on the forest lanes of Guiones?

Can we see the turtles at Ostional?
Ostional, just north of Nosara, is a protected refuge where olive ridley turtles nest in large numbers at certain times. Visits are regulated and arranged with local guides, separately from the transfer.

Per vehicle. Two or five passengers pay the same in the Hyundai Staria, so the more of you travel, the less each person pays.
