The service

Your private transfer from Liberia Airport (LIR) to Hacienda Pinilla

Landing after a long flight is not the moment to piece a trip together. With us the van is reserved for your party only, the driver follows your flight number, helps with the luggage and drives you directly to Hacienda Pinilla. No strangers, no detours to other people's hotels.

What you see is what you pay, per vehicle: fuel, tolls, taxes, insurance, water, WiFi and child seats are all in the price. Standard is the direct trip; VIP adds $80 per vehicle and turns the drive into a day with stops.

We confirm the pickup details with you when you book. With approximately 1 h 15 min of driving ahead, most travellers go straight to the hotel and still have time for the pool or a late lunch.

Your destination

Arriving in Hacienda Pinilla

Hacienda Pinilla is a large private residential and resort community on the coast south of Tamarindo, built on the land of an old cattle ranch. Behind its security gate are villas, condominiums, a golf course, a beach club and several kilometres of coastline with quiet beaches, as well as trails through dry forest.

Most guests stay in private villas or rental homes managed by local companies, and the JW Marriott Guanacaste resort is also inside the property. Because the community is large, tell us the name of your villa, the building or the rental company: the guards at the gate will ask for it.

After Villarreal the route continues south on rural roads to the Hacienda Pinilla gate. Inside, private roads wind between the golf course, dry forest and residential areas to the villas.

Before you travel

Road conditions on the way to Hacienda Pinilla

Route 21 and the local roads to the coast are paved and in good condition. Between the highway and the beach towns, some roads are narrow or have potholes after heavy rain, and your driver adjusts the speed. Traffic near Tamarindo can slow down in the afternoon, when the town fills up.

Roads to the gate are paved, partly rural; the internal roads are private and well kept, with low speed limits. In the dry season the landscape is golden and dusty, and the Papagayo winds can blow in the afternoon.

Driver's tips for this route

  1. Give us the reservation name and the hotel or villa address: resorts and gated communities check vehicles in and it avoids delays at the gate.
  2. Ask your rental company for the gate instructions and send them to us when you book.
  3. There are few shops inside; plan a supermarket stop in Villarreal or Tamarindo.
  4. Keep water, sunscreen and a light jacket in your hand luggage, not in the boot: the weather changes on the way.
